General Estate Maintenance Person

About Auch Estate Auch Estate is a large and diverse rural Estate located in the heart of the southern highlands. The Estate extends to 29,000 acres, including 235 acres of forestry, a run-of-river hydro scheme, and a large modern in-house farm transitioning to organic farming and agricultural tourism/education. The Role You will be involved in a wide range of duties across various functions of the Estate, including farming, forestry, landscaping, countryside, groundworks, fencing, general building and property maintenance. You will also assist other departments such as the inhouse farm, future gardens, woodland and wildlife management. You will have the experience or be keen to learn various agricultural and landscaping services with relevant qualifications and the wish to embrace in the way of life of a modern transparent farming estate.

General Duties • Assist Estate Maintenance Supervisor on operations of all Estate departments. • Involved in various labouring duties in the maintenance of landscapes and infrastructure, including machine operation for track repairs, ditching and minor building repairs. Specific duties include • Support all teams in repairs to various property types, including residential dwellings, farm buildings, and heritage assets. • Assist our in-house farm at peak periods of the year with lambing and calving. • Repair tracks and roads. • Maintain grounds and garden. • Fencing, drainage, ditching, wall repairs & other countryside conservation works. • Assist woodland operations, fire log & kindling production. • Actively scan the Estate, improve resolve and issues that impact our environment, visitors, and guest experience. Ensure all waste and litter is collected and recycled.

Required Skills • Experience working on a rural estate would be helpful but not essential. • Holder of a full and clean driving licence. •

Desirable qualifications or having the ambition to obtain: Chainsaw certification, PA 1, 2 & 6 Spraying, Telescopic Forklift certification, ATV, use of Agricultural and Horticultural Machinery (including a 360 Excavator), firearms certificates and other relevant NPTC/LANTRA/NPORS qualifications or certification. • A good general knowledge of regulations applicable to Estate work, including Health & Safety requirements.

Work Requirements • Willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the estate operation. • 40 hours per week with flexibility of estate life and weekend cover. • Prepared to work outside in all weather (can sometimes be an extreme rural environment!). • Place of work: Auch Estate.
