Experienced Gardener/Caretaker (Live-in or Live-out)
Location: Near Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland
Salary: Depending on experience and requirement for tied accommodation
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Overview
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Gardener/Caretaker to join a beautiful private rural sporting estate in Perthshire, Scotland. This is a varied and rewarding role combining hands-on horticultural responsibilities with general caretaking duties.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining and enhancing the estate gardens, including a productive vegetable garden, while also looking after the house and the dogs in the owners’ absence.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Maintaining and improving all garden areas, including trees, shrubs, herbaceous and annual borders, hedges, and lawns• Carrying out all aspects of horticultural work: planting, division, cultivation, propagation, weeding, mulching, feeding, pruning, and training plants• Managing and developing the vegetable garden to provide produce for the family• Operating and maintaining garden machinery and tools (e.g. ride-on mower, strimmer, brush cutters)• Dog sitting for two Labradors during the owners’ absence• House sitting during the owners’ absence, including alarm operation and general security• Occasional driving duties (e.g. airport pick-ups)• Flexibility to live in the main house (in a dedicated en-suite bedroom) when owners are away.
Candidate Requirements
• Proven experience working in gardens and/or rural estates• Strong horticultural knowledge across a wide range of plants, including herbaceous perennials, cut flowers, climbers, shrubs, trees, fruit, and vegetables• Relevant horticultural qualifications or equivalent practical experience• Full, clean driving licence• Verifiable references• Happy to work as part of a small, dedicated estate team• DBS certification• Flexible and proactive approach to a varied role combining gardening and caretaking• Reliable, discreet, and trustworthy, with a high level of professionalism• Willingness to adapt to changing needs on the estate
