As a result of continued expansion, we are recruiting an Estates Worker to join our existing Maintenance Team on the Whitfield Estate, Northumberland. The successful candidate will be able to work within a team as well as independently, will be personable and possess good communication skills. They should demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach to work and be willing to take responsibility and ownership of tasks and have a common sense approach. Previous forestry work experience is essential. Additional experience in horticulture, agriculture or construction is preferable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· To support the existing team in ensuring the estate is maintained and presented to an excellent standard throughout the year.

· To provide maintenance and groundworks support to the Estate caravan and lodge parks.

· To support the buildings team in relevant tasks and carry out any other reasonable work as and when necessary. This may possibly be out of normal working hours.

· Demonstrate a positive approach to work and a commitment to health and safety.

· To be responsible for general grounds and building maintenance tasks across the Estate.

· Work on the Estate’s multiple private water supplies.

· Weed control on hard standing areas, yards, tracks, and paths by the appropriate spraying of pesticides in accordance with COSHH assessments.

· Be proficient in the use of a chainsaw to carry out small scale forestry and woodland works.

· Assist with grounds clearance on larger projects across the estate.

· Ensure the safe use of machinery along with a wide range of other tools and equipment.

· To maintain estate and hired equipment and keep records and schedules as required.

Qualifications and Skills

· Experience of operating modern machinery (NTPC certification preferable).

· Experience of operating chainsaws is essential (LANTRA maintenance and cross cutting certification as a minimum requirement).

· Certification in the safe application of pesticides (NTPC PA1, PA6 desirable).

· A current, clean driving licence is essential in being able to fulfil the role.

· Multiple building trades experience would be advantageous.
