Part-Time Estate Worker / General Hand (Seasonal)

Location: Perthshire

Period: April to December (annual with potential to repeat)

Hours: Part-time, 25 – 30 hrs per week but flexible by season

Pay: Competitive / negotiable depending on experience

The Role

We are seeking a practical, reliable and hard-working Keeper/Estate Worker to assist with

the day-to-day running of a small private estate in Perthshire. The role is varied and hands-

on, ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work and is happy turning their hand to a wide

range of rural tasks.

The position is seasonal (April–December) and would suit someone looking for ongoing

annual work alongside other commitments. Self-employed status is preferred, subject to the

appropriate legal arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

Gamekeeping duties on a small family shoot:

o Typical duties will include:

o General day-to-day keepering tasks across the estate.

o Feeding, habitat management and predator control (within legal and best-

practice guidelines).

o Maintenance of pens, feeders, tracks and cover crops.

o Ongoing estate and shoot-related maintenance, including fencing, ride

management and small repairs.

o Seasonal work associated with the shoot calendar, with duties varying through

the year.

o Preparation of drives and ground ahead of shoot days.

o Assisting with organisation and running of approximately 4 shoot days,

including:

o Liaising with and organising beaters.

o Supporting the smooth running of the day.

o The shoot is small, family-run and informal, and the emphasis is on good

stockmanship, safe practices and enjoyable days, rather than high-volume

commercial shooting.

Gardening and grounds maintenance around the four Estate houses.

General estate maintenance - to include:

o Fencing and repairs.

o Woodland and forestry planting.

o Forestry maintenance and habitat work.

Seasonal estate tasks as required, with work varying throughout the year.Skills & Experience:

Essential:

Gamekeeping experience

• Strong work ethic and a practical, can-do attitude

• Ability to work independently and take initiative

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions

Desirable (but not essential):

• Chainsaw tickets

• ATV/quad bike tickets

• Experience with forestry or woodland management

• Basic machinery and maintenance skills

• Takes pride in their work and the appearance of an estate

• Is comfortable working alone but also liaising with owners and shoot participants
