An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Live in full time Estate worker and groundsman in Mid Sussex. The property compromises gardens, agricultural land and woodlands, the role will also involve regular tree surgery groundsman duties.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a hands-on Estate Worker and groundsman with a passion for maintaining and managing Estates and trees . This role will involve overseeing and participating in all aspects of the maintenance and presentation of the gardens, grounds, and outdoor areas, ensuring they are kept in excellent condition year-round. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to gardening (floral and kitchen), livestock management, tree maintenance, planting and removal, grass cutting, strimming, weeding, hard landscape maintenance, clearing gutters / drains, trimming hedges, fencing, hedge planting, maintaining waterways, and the safe operation of machinery. The role will also include involvement in various project work as required. The successful applicant will be expected to comply with all current Health and Safety legislation to ensure a safe working environment. Additionally, the candidate may be asked to supervise contract workers or visiting specialists when needed.

The ideal candidate should be a hardworking, motivated, and independent individual, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. The role may also involve managing other team members in the future, so a flexible and open approach to a variety of tasks is essential.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

The ideal candidate will possess a broad knowledge of garden and landscape maintenance, with the ability to take initiative and adapt to a wide range of tasks and challenges that may arise. Certificates in chainsaw operation (CS30.1 & CS30.2) are required and CS 38 and 39 are desirable. Due to the estate's location, having your own transport is essential for commuting to and from the site. In terms of personal qualities, we are looking for someone with drive, energy, high personal standards, and enthusiasm, as these will be key attributes for success in this role. Integrity and discretion are paramount, along with excellent time management skills. The ideal candidate should be willing to approach the role with an open mind and a flexible attitude, embracing new challenges as they arise. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for this position to ensure safety while performing tasks, this will be provided.

Accommodation onsite (bills inlucded)

Salary commensurate with experience.

20 days holiday plus Bank holiday (pro-rata)

37.5 hours a week with 1 hour for lunch, 07:30 to 16:00. Pension.
