JOB SPECIFICATION FOR ASSISTANT AT LINTROSE FARM

General Handyman/Gardener/Woodsman required for small family estate approximately 15 miles

north of Perth. The property consists of roughly 100 acres of agricultural land, 50 acres of

wood and 3 acres of gardens and policies, a main house and 6 cottages. The job requires a

willingness to take on a wide variety of tasks, including woodland maintenance, mowing,

strimming, gardening, basic building maintenance, such as clearing gutters and painting. A

willingness to undertake gardening tasks is essential, although a detailed knowledge is not.

Work in the garden will include tasks such as digging, weeding, seed propagation and

greenhouse work and maintaining a productive vegetable patch and fruit trees. The main

house is heated with a wood burner and open fires, so there is a requirement for the

preparation and carting of logs into the house. The ability to drive a tractor, use a chain saw

and other mechanical machinery, such as a log splitter and strimmer, will be needed. The

ability to operate small diggers would be useful. The job is largely unsupervised, can be

solitary but is a great opportunity for a self-motivated person to be an integral part of our

small rural community.

Qualifications Required.

Essential: Chain saw qualified/course trained. Driver’s licence. An interest in gardening.

Desirable: Knowledge of Gardening. Spraying licence. Fencing/walling knowledge.

Hours

The hours of work are from 0800 – 1700, Mon – Fri, with an hour for lunch. Reduced hours

can be negotiated.

Occasionally, in the event of extraordinary events (normally weather), there may be a

requirement for limited out of hours working.

Remuneration.

The following will make up the remuneration package:

A three-bedroom cottage and garden.

Free firewood.

20 days holiday + public holidays for full time package
