Estate Worker - Forestry / Farm

An exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a small team on a 2000 Acre Estate in North Yorkshire.

The role: Reporting directly to and supporting the Farm & Conservation manager you will be part of a growing and diverse farm business. A varied and stimulating role for the right candidate who wishes to make a positive contribution to the countryside.

Attributes: An all-round Estate worker who has a passion for the environment, conservation, farm and forestry work. Honest, enthusiastic, hardworking, forward thinker, and a willingness to learn new skills and be part of a fantastic project.

Skills required:

Forestry

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in the establishment of significant new Estate woodlands, tree planting and their aftercare, record keeping, regular checks on deer & rabbit fences.

Be involved in the management of existing Estate woodland within a Higher Tier CSS to include ride maintenance, thinning & silvicultural works, vermin & invasive species control, monitoring of Deer, Rabbit & Hare damage.

Assisting with Hedge laying & Planting.

Farm

The successful candidate will have an interest in organic & regenerative farming helping to deliver stewardship scheme objectives, conservation and habitat restoration and assisting with our sheep and beef enterprise.

Volunteers

The successful candidate will be keen to work in part of a dynamic team of motivated people including volunteer groups on various estate wide woodland and conservation projects.

Package:

A competitive salary, enrolment in NEST pension scheme, pay package to be discussed at interview and will match the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications. The package has the potential to include accommodation on the estate if required.
