Overview
We are looking for a hands-on, highly capable Estate Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running and ongoing development of a private rural property.
This role requires someone who can think independently, manage people and contractors, and keep multiple projects moving forward without constant direction.
We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in outcomes and treats the estate as if it were their own.
The estate is evolving into a unique environment combining art, nature, and wellbeing, including:
- A future art gallery and curated events- Farm-to-table experiences and private gatherings- Equine-assisted wellbeing experiences
Alongside this vision, there is a wide range of practical, ongoing work that needs to be managed and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Estate & Daily Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the farm and grounds- Ensure all animals are properly cared for (horses, alpacas, cattle, sheep, chickens, and geese)- Monitor and maintain newly planted native species- Manage and coordinate two on-site workers
Machinery & Practical Work
* Operate a tractor confidently (essential)* Handle trailers, including reversing and manoeuvring* Carry out hedge cutting and general land maintenance* Use tools and machinery as required* Work hands-on outdoors on a daily basis
Projects & Contractors
- Act as the main point of contact for contractors* Manage and support ongoing projects, including:Barn restoration,Pond restoration and plantingGarden landscaping (~¼ acre)Pasture regeneration and land improvement* Organise materials, timelines, and on-site execution
Land & Grounds Development
- Support tree and hedge planting, woodland management, and general land improvement- Coordinate additional labour when required
Estate Presentation
* Maintain the estate to a consistently high visual and practical standard* Ensure the property is well kept, organised, and improving over time
Essential Requirements:
* UK-based applicants only, familiar with local land and conditions* Experience working on a farm, estate, or similar environment in the UK* Confident tractor driver (essential)* Comfortable using machinery and working outdoors daily* Experience with animal care, including horses* Practical, proactive, and able to take initiative* Able to manage people and coordinate work effectively* Reliable, grounded, and capable of working independently
