Private Highland Sporting Estate – Scottish Highlands

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Estate Gardener to join a prestigious private sporting estate in the Scottish Highlands. Set within a spectacular landscape of mountains, woodland and lochs, the estate features traditional gardens and grounds that are maintained to a high standard in keeping with the heritage and character of the property.

We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic gardener with a genuine passion for horticulture and estate life. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care and development of the estate gardens, ensuring they are maintained to an exceptional standard throughout the year.

This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys working within a traditional estate environment and takes pride in attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the preservation of historic gardens.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance of formal lawns, herbaceous borders, ornamental beds, and landscaped areas• Pruning and care of trees, shrubs, roses, and hedging• Seasonal planting, propagation, and general horticultural work• Operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery and tools• Monitoring plant health and implementing pest and disease control where required• Supporting improvements and new planting schemes across the estate gardens• Maintaining pathways, greenhouses, and garden structures

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in horticulture or professional gardening• Excellent plant knowledge and strong practical gardening skills• A proactive and self-motivated approach with high standards of work• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small estate team• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• RHS, NVQ, or equivalent horticultural qualification (not essential)• Experience working on private estates, country houses, or historic gardens
