Couples position for Highland Estate – Seasonal Role (Eilean Shona, West Coast of Scotland)

Eilean Shona is a privately owned Hebridean island with 8 self-catering cottages and a 9-bedroom main house. Just a short RIB crossing from the mainland, the island feels wonderfully remote while still being accessible. We are committed to running the island as sustainably as possible, creating a unique place to live and work.

The Position

We are looking for a practical, energetic couple with a taste for adventure, a can-do attitude and strong team spirit. This is a live-in, seasonal role running from March to October, with the possibility of extension to a permanent position.

The work is varied, covering both hospitality and estate tasks, and no two days are the same. Candidates with previous experience in holiday lets or guest-facing lodge work will be at an advantage. Boating, gardening, and practical maintenance skills (chainsaw, strimmer, etc.) are also desirable, though not essential for quick learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Weekly changeovers for 8 self-catering cottages• Hospitality and meal service during house parties• General gardening and care of the polytunnels• Path and track maintenance• Assisting with the care and maintenance of buildings, boats, and equipment• Supporting conservation projects across the island• Firewood processing and kindling• Carrying out repairs in holiday cottages and the main residence• Safe operation of boats, quads, and chainsaws• Flexibility to support a wide range of estate tasks

About You

• Boat-handling skills (or willingness to learn) and is confident on the water• Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weathers• Practical, adaptable, and willing to take on varied tasks• Strong initiative and a positive team player• Experience in hospitality/cleaning an advantage• Must have the right to work in the UK• A car is essential due to the remote location
