Couple required for hill farm estate in Argyll, Scotland with accommodation. To help with holiday cottage business & estate maintenance

The role is split between two people and combines holiday cottage management with estate and property maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for a couple who enjoy rural living, varied work and being part of a family owned estate in a stunning part of Argyll close to the coast.

Holiday cottages /caretaking main house. (Part-Time)

The part time role will focus on running the holiday cottage business and helping in the main house. Your duties include:

  • Cleaning and preparing cottages to a high standard in between lets.
  • Ironing and ordering weekly linen deliveries/cleaning materials etc.
  • Welcoming guests and being on hand if needed during their stay.
  • Cleaning of the main house, looking after the dogs/caretaking when we are away.

This role requires someone who is trustworthy, organised, friendly and capable of working independently and alongside your partner or the owners when busy. Must have a good attention to detail and a high standard of cleaning. A car is provided for this position.

Estate Maintenance Work (Full-time)

The full time roll is working mostly independently or along side the owners/other employees. Your duties include:

  • General maintenance of holiday cottages and estate/farm buildings.
  • Woodland work.
  • Fencing and repairs.
  • Tractor field work
  • Field weed control. Mowing cottage lawns.
  • General estate up keep as required and supporting your partner with cottage change overs if needed.

Experience with a chainsaw, tractor work and excavator would be an advantage. Training can be provided to obtain tickets. A van and quad bike is provided for this position.

  • A practical, hands-on couple comfortable with rural estate life
  • Providing a friendly and professional point of contact when required.
  • Ability to work independently with a‘Can do' attitude.
  • Flexible, reliable and proactive.
  • Honesty and trustworthiness are essential
  • Full driving licences and a car is essential. We are 20 mins to the shops.

Accommodation and Terms

A modern three-bedroom bungalow available with position. With three-bathrooms, utility room, study, sitting room, kitchen/dining room. The bungalow is set in a private elevated position and has a fenced in garden with wonderful views.Good salary and hourly wage subject to experience.Hours and terms will be discussed and tailored to suit the right couple.
