Exmoor

Professional couple running their ownhorticultural/farming business seek a person/couple to undertake various tasks in helping to run their home, garden and farmland in a rural part of Exmoor and Kent.

The role is mainly based on Exmoor and involves

• All aspects of managing a large garden with a range of borders, lawns and greenhouse• House/farm maintenance• Assistance with managing 50 acres of pasture grazed by sheep and hayed in the summer• House/pet sitting/farm sitting 2 collie dogs, a horse, small flock of sheep and poultry• Domestic work in the home• Occasional travel to our farm in Kent for similar duties for short periods

The garden duties include…. weeding, pruning, hedge trimming, planting, garden redesign, strimming, digging borders, managing plants throughout all the seasons. It also includes maintenance of patios/gutters/paths/stable yard.Some plant knowledge would be helpful.

Maintenance duties include general repairs to the house, stables and barns, painting, gutter cleaning, window cleaning.The ability to work at height is essential.

Pasture management duties include looking after a small flock of sheep as well as fencing, tractor mowing and rolling, hedge trimming, tree work and general farmland maintenance.Tractor and quad bike driving skills are essential and chainsaw qualifications would be helpful. The ability to tow trailers is also essential. Training can be arranged if necessary.

House sitting duties involve looking after our horse that mainly lives outside, exercising our dogs and caring for our sheep and poultry in our absence. It involves living in our home whilst we are away on short business trips and longer holidays.

Domestic work includes managing the upkeep of a four-bedroom house, garden cabin and small flat and maintaining a clean and tidy household. Duties include cleaning,bedmaking, ironing with possibly some cooking (dependingon the applicant).

We are seeking a highly flexible person/persons, capable of all undertaking all of the above duties whilst living in a small rural community who are…

• Dog/animal lovers• Trustworthy, reliable and personable• Self-motivated, initiative users, decision makers and able to work unsupervised• Must be able to drive as we are in a rural area

This is one full time position, with additional hours at busy times. This is not a 9-5 job, the hours are variable depending on our whereabouts, but the hours will be planned in advance,and the flexibility will be two way wherever possible.

We feel this would be particularly suitable for a couplepossible...ish to job share or a couple who are fit and healthy, but wish to semi retire.

It is essential that the applicant resides within a few miles of our property and we would help to source a rental property nearby and part fund some of the rent. The salary is dependant on the applicant’s skills and experience.
