We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Assistant Gardener to support the Head Gardeners and Walled Garden team in the day-to-day maintenance of the Gardens at Badminton House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort.
The role will involve lawn mowing and assisting with daily maintenance in the Walled Garden - where fruit, vegetables and flowers are grown for the House. The role would suit someone with a strong work ethic and an understanding oflawn maintenance who is confident using mowing machinery. The successful candidate will receive instructions from the Head Gardeners and the Walled Gardener and will have to work independently at times, as well as having the
ability to work well within a team. The right candidate will be looking for a long-term role on the team and will find rewarding opportunities to learn and develop their skills.
Regular tasks will include:
• lawn mowing (formal), hand mowing, ride-on mowing, strimming and lawn edging.• assisting with growing and harvesting vegetables, flowers and fruit for the House.• assisting with weeding, raking, pruning, strimming, tidying the flower beds and all other areas.• assisting with maintaining the greenhouse and the plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables within it.• assisting with delivery to the House of fruit, vegetables and flowers supplied from the Walled Garden.• working towards and attending the three main Garden Openings as well as additional garden tours/garden-based events.• additional gardening tasks as required.
Job Requirements:
• minimum two years' relevant experience.• solid lawn maintenance and plant knowledge.• clean driver’s licence.
This is a full-time role with a salary expectation of between£25,000.00-£27,000.00 per annum.
