Assistant Estate Manager
Dunlossit Estate, Isle of Islay
A unique and exciting position as Assistant Estate Manager at Dunlossit Estate, Isle of Islay has become available. The position offers applicants the opportunity to have a real and positive impact on the running of a unique and diverse estate which enjoys an extremely good reputation on the island.
The Estate totals approximately 7,500Ha comprising an array of land uses including in-hand farming, let residential properties, commercial enterprises including a quarry and abattoir, forestry, sporting, environmental projects and renewable energy. The in-hand farming enterprise consists of three farms, predominately livestock with barley grown for a local distillery on the island.
The position requires someone with experience in rural estate and property management who also has a sound knowledge of agricultural practices. The successful candidate must be willing to live on the Isle of Islay in order to fulfil their role to its fullest potential and work closely with the current Estate Manager and Estate Trustees.
The successful candidate must be proactive, motivated and comfortable taking on responsibility. They must also have good interpersonal and managerial skills and be able to work well with the current farm teams and the wider Estate staff, the management team and as part of the island community at large. They should be keen to support the existing Estate Manager but will be strongly encouraged to come forward with innovative ideas to ensure the continuous development of a modern, forward-thinking Estate. The ideal candidate will be an ideas-generator, be business-minded as well as being a practical problem solver.
The position encompasses a wide range of roles and responsibilities where you will be expected to work as a solid individual and as a team member with the wider Estate staff.
A salary commensurate with the demands of the role and the experience and potential of the successful applicant will be offered. Accommodation will be made available, if required.
