Main purpose of role

To work under the instruction of the Head Stalker and Beat Stalkers to assist in the running of the Sporting activity, management of vermin and predator control and maintaining the habitat of the Reay Forest Estate.

Key responsibilities

Role Specific Responsibilities

· Working to the Head Stalker’s approved annual plan and budget to support with all aspects of deer management.

· To contribute to the prevention of poaching and trespassing on the estate.

· Ensure vermin and predator controls are maintained within legislative guidelines.

· To contribute to the maintenance and improvement of habitat on the Reay Forest Estate.

· Communication and working closely with members of the wider Reay Forest team and neighbouring estates to ensure the smooth operation of the department and the estate.

· Assist with deer cull as required.

· Assist with the use of Estate working ponies, include all aspect of caring for, preparing and utilising animals for sporting activities.

· Assist with shoot and fishing days with guests as required.

· Support with work and cleaning of the larder under the direction of senior team members.

· Ensure that all equipment and PPE used is suitable for the role, kept in a good clean condition and fully functional.

· Notify the Head Stalker of any maintenance requirements once they are identified and report any necessary repairs.

· Perform and complete assigned tasks to a quality and quantity required by Family, visitors and the Head Stalker.

· At all times to uphold the good reputation of Grosvenor and to promote and preserve good working relationships with all whom you have dealings within your day to day work.

Essential skills and attributes:

· The ability to follow direction and work on own initiative to complete tasks safely, on time and within budget

· Training will be provided but ability to operate Sporting machinery and equipment is essential

· Shotgun / Firearms licences required

· Driving licence required

· To pass information to the rest of the team through regular meetings

· The post involves working variable hours, including some weekends and evenings.
