Seasonal Hatchery Worker (No weekend work)

We are looking for a seasonal hatchery worker to join our team from now until August, helping in our busy hatchery near Brough, East Yorkshire. Experience is not necessarily needed as long as you have a willingness to learn and follow instructions, training will be provided.

Main duties will include:

• Logging and labelling incoming eggs
• Unloading deliveries and moving eggs into the cool room
• Fumigating eggs
• Setting eggs onto trays for incubation
• Monitoring incubators and hatchers
• Transferring eggs from incubators to hatchers
• Assisting with hatching and boxing chicks
• Cleaning and maintaining hatchery equipment and work areas
• Maintaining a high level of biosecurity, including changing foot dips and mats and ensuring hatchery cleanliness
• Appropriate disposal of hatchery by-products, ensuring collection by the carrier is completed and paperwork maintained
• Completing hatchery records and returning them to the office
• Reporting any issues with eggs, chicks or machinery promptly
• Reordering consumables as required

Working hours:

• Monday to Friday - no weekend work
• Ideally 8:00am - 4:00pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break
• Alternative hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch may be considered (e.g. around school hours)
• Hatch days (Monday or Tuesday) may occasionally require an earlier start

Requirements:

• Reliable and hardworking

• Physically capable of handling boxes of eggs and manoeuvring trolleys and trays.
• Good attention to detail and basic English & numeracy skills for maintaining accurate records
• Flexible and adaptable during the season
• Comfortable working in a hatchery environment which can be hot and dusty (PPE is provided)

• Own transportation to get to/from work due to our rural location
