This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Hatchery Manager to run a small private hatchery, dedicated to supporting and enhancing wild salmon populations within a well-managed private estate.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience in hatchery operations, with a strong understanding of salmon biology and life cycles, supported by either professional practice or academic study. This is a hands-on role requiring both operational oversight and day-to-day management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and managing hatchery operations throughout the annual cycle
  • Monitoring fish health, water quality, and environmental conditions
  • Ensuring best practice in line with relevant environmental and fisheries guidance
  • Maintenance and upkeep of all hatchery facilities and equipment
  • Leading initiatives to support and improve wild salmon stocks

Candidate profile:

  • Demonstrable experience in fish hatchery management or a closely related field
  • Sound knowledge of wild salmon ecology and development stages
  • Practical, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A genuine interest in conservation and the natural environment
