Full-time Live-in Couple for North Yorkshire Private Estate
We are seeking an energetic and friendly couple to cover the Estate Worker roles of housekeeper and groundsman for a private country estate in North Yorkshire. We are looking for a couple who take pride in their work with an eye for detail, self-motivated, a practical and flexible attitude.
The house is large and in normal circumstances, frequently has guests. It is situated in a large garden mostly laid out to lawn with a couple of formal beds, rhododendrons, rockery, roses, trees, a small lake and a sizeable kitchen garden.
All normal housekeeping elements are required such as cleaning, tidying, bedding, guest preparation, laundry, fires, house maintenance and to arrange and oversee tradesmen.
The role(s) will involve overseeing and participating in all aspects of the maintenance and presentation of the gardens, grounds, and outdoor areas, ensuring they are kept in excellent condition year-round. This may include but is not limited to gardening (floral and kitchen), basic tree maintenance, mowing, strimming, weeding, landscape maintenance, clearing gutters / drains, trimming hedges, and the safe operation of machinery.
Some estate maintenance will be required in addition to the gardening, including light painting, over-seeing the heating system, water management, maintaining stock of logs, garden machinery, basic ongoing household repairs, and managing estate queries for property and water issues.
Occasional weekend work is required during the shooting season, which will be fully offset with time off in lieu. When the family are away, it is required that the couple will house sit.
This would suit a couple where both like to work in the garden with some shared house responsibilities.
We are highly supportive of couples starting out in this sector and warmly welcome applications from horticultural college graduates, apprentices, individuals with a background in hospitality cleaning and general experience looking to transition into estate work. Fully funded ongoing certifications (such as chainsaw operation) will be provided to help you develop your skills.
Due to the rural location of the estate, having your own transport is essential; however, estate vehicles are provided for work on-site.
Package includes statutory base salary complemented by premium live-in benefits: a cosy, private 2-bedroom cottage (pets are welcome), all reasonable utility bills covered, pension contributions, and professional development. 20 days holiday plus Bank holidays. Applicants must possess valid right to work and undergo a background check.
