Full-time Farm Hand Vacancy

Spanning across the Surrey / Hampshire border, Downlands is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) farm hand to complement our current team.

Our successful applicant will be an active individual, positive natured with a great sense of humour. Our team has a genuine family feel made up of ambitious, hardworking individuals from various backgrounds. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us on the journey.

We currently have cattle, chickens, deer, and alpacas. We are looking to expand both in numbers and species. We are working with ‘Pasture for Life’ and would like our successful candidate to be keen to join us on this mission.

Responsibilities could include assisting the Estate Manager and Farmer to:

- Perform general farm animal duties including checking, feeding, watering, cleaning enclosures, replacing bedding, egg collecting, medicating where necessary and more.

- Operate and maintain farm equipment, including tractors, quad bikes and tools. Training can be provided for the right candidate.

- Repair and maintain fences, gates, and other farm structures.

- Repair and maintain water troughs, drinkers, tanks & pipes.

- General help with wider estate upkeep

Experience:

- Previous experience working on a farm or in a similar agricultural setting is preferred but not required

- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks for extended periods of time

- Knowledge of animal care practices is a plus
