The Estate

Garrowby Estate is part of the Halifax Estates and is located 13 miles east of York. The Estate extends to 13,200 acres of which 1,400 acres is woodland. The Garrowby Shoot operates over approximately 6,000 acres along the Yorkshire Wolds escarpment and has a reputation of being one of the best high pheasant shoots in the country. The shoot is split into two beats, one of which will be the responsibility of the successful applicant. There is a mix of private and let days with approximately 27 days in total.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced Beat Keeper to work alongside the existing Head Keeper. The successful applicant will have a high level of autonomy on their beat so should be able to work independently, as well as part of a small team. Good communication and organisational skills are essential, together with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and capacity for hard work. Experience of rearing (from day olds) is essential.
