Underkeeper - Ref 1492 Date: April 11, 2025

We are looking for an Underkeeper to join the established team on the Kings Walden Shoot. The shoot is situated across 6000 acres of the Kings Walden Estate in the rolling Hertfordshire countryside. We shoot 20 driven days per year with a further 10 – 15 rough/walked up days and dog trials.

Under supervision of the Headkeeper, the underkeeper would undertake general duties across the shoot whilst taking responsibility for their own drives. These general duties would see the successful candidate assisting with:

• rearing & release of pheasants and partridge

• layer flock management

• pen maintenance

• pest & predator control

• conservation/ woodland management

• smooth running of shoot days

• equipment maintenance

The key attributes of the underkeeper are:

• show dedication to the job
• an honest & trustworthy person
• an easy going and personable attitude
• have a good subject knowledge but be prepared to learn
• have their own working dogs

• have a valid FAC & SGC and be competent with these essential tools

• Full, clean UK driving licence
