Single Handed Keeper / Estate Worker SITUATION FILLED - Ref RR569


Location: Longside Estate, Nidderdale, North Yorkshire

The Estate:
A family-owned estate over farmland and woodlands in Upper Nidderdale. The family has operated the land for 45 years as a respected high bird pheasant shoot and sporting estate.

The estate requires an experienced single-handed keeper / estate worker to bring on 8 week old pheasants & produce high quality shooting. All aspects of gamekeeping and good husbandry skills are required including (but not limited to) vermin control (trapping and deer management), rear and release, organisation of days & teams of beaters and pickers ups. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to engage with general estate repairs, woodland management (some felling and planting) as well as ad hoc responsibilities to assist the family. The estate is prepared to adapt (both in terms of its shooting and its general management) against the background of conservation, ELM scheme & health and safety. Therefore, the candidate should have an open mind with regards to estate management and a watchful eye on conservation. Finally, good communication skills and ability to maintain key relationships on and off the estate is a must. Candidates should have self-motivation, a can do attitude, and eagerness to perform the job. Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience

• Full UK driving licence, Firearms & shotgun licence

• Own dogs

• Relevant training accreditation for ATV / Quad, Chainsaw, Pesticide, First Aid is desirable

(albeit training can be provided)


• Consummate with experience.

• Estate cottage & kennels (or live-out if preferred)

• Car

• Pension

• Relevant on-going training as required
