Small family run Estate covering circa 2,000 acres of mixed farmland and woodland in Northumberland.
The Estate aims to be a forward looking and progressive business, which balances its traditional past with the requirements of the future. Conservation and sustainability have always been and remain key focusses.
The individual we are seeking must be enthusiastic, motivated, practical, comfortable with responsibility and managing their own time. They will need to be proactive in identifying and completing tasks and the use of technology to record progress. They must be conscientious, organised and tidy with a ‘can do’ attitude. Good communication skills with those on and off the Estate, a desire to work collegiately with others and make a wide contribution to the smooth running and long-term future of the Estate is important.
The Estate has 6-7 family days shooting per annum. There are no ‘let days’ but you will be actively encouraged to develop your own ideas on how to improve the overall biodiversity and quality of shooting. The Estate has a significant and increasing area of woodland. These range from woods containing mature veteran broadleaves to areas of commercial softwood timber. For environmental and conservation reasons, the estate is keen to increase its area of planting and proactively manage the woodlands and hedgerows.
In addition, some grounds and estate maintenance as well as adhoc roles to assist the family will also be required.
Competencies/Qualifications (albeit some training can be provided)
• Shotgun & Firearms Certificate
• Clean drivers licence
• Tractor driving licence
• Chemical handling/spraying and first aid qualifications
• Mechanical knowledge
• Chainsaw licence and certification
Accommodation and a vehicle can be provided. Salary will be based on experience.
