Single handed Gamekeeper - Ref 728

Barnacre Estate, Lancashire

The Barnacre estate was developed around a fine Edwardian shooting lodge and owned by the same family until the 1960’s. For the last 35 years the Barnacre Shoot Syndicate, as a group of friends and their guests, have enjoyed the shooting rights. The land is varied and undulating with one or two drives in particular producing very high birds. Today the shoot covers just over 3000 acres, has 15 main drives and shoots 15 driven Saturdays with 9 guns and approximate bags of 200-250. In addition there are around 10 mid week days shooting with smaller bags, either driven or walked up. This year the shoot will buy in 12,000 pheasants as poults, 1000 ducks and 500 partridge. A recently redecorated good family house (with *2 kennels and runs) is provided as accommodation in the lovely local market town of Garstang (10 minutes drive to the estate).

With the syndicate and estate landlords both backing a long term future for the shoot in its present location the opportunity has arisen for the permanent appointment of a single handed keeper to further improve the quality and stability of shooting at Barnacre. A competitive package is on offer to the successful candidate.
