Rural Supervisor & Rural operative - Ref 1074

North Pennines

J W Bainbridge Contractors Ltd is an agri-environmental contractor based near Barnard Castle, County Durham, in the North East of England. Focusing on the remote, upland areas of the North Pennines, our projects involve habitat management and restoration works on protected sites. Working with the seasons, we deliver a variety of bare peat restoration over the autumn and winter months, followed by vegetation control, re-seeding, fencing, stone track maintenance and installation, pond and wader scrape creation over the spring and summer months.

We have a wide range of machines, specifically selected for the fragile, wet ground conditions in which we work, including a large fleet of excavators, modified for low ground pressure works and fitted with engcon tilt rotators, plus a range of Loglogic Softraks and ATVS including quad bikes and Argocats.

We are looking to expand our team, with two exciting permanent positions:

Rural Supervisor: to lead a team of staff out on site, carrying out a variety of rural estate maintenance and habitat management works. This will include operating a variety of machines and equipment.

Essentials:

· Full driving licence

· Good level of physical fitness

· Willingness to work outside in remote rural locations, in all weathers

· Availability to work away from home, with overnight stays, when required

· NPTC/CPCS/LANTRA qualified in 360 excavator

· Have previous experience managing staff in a similar role

Desirables:

· An understanding of upland moorland sites

· Knowledge of GIS

· Other NPTC/CPCS/LANTRA qualifications in land based machinery and/or activities

· Mechanical knowledge and interest in machinery maintenance

Permanent, full time contract of 45 hours per week. £30,000-£34,000 per annum, plus overtime depending on experience.

Rural Operative: to work as part of our team, carrying out a variety of rural estate maintenance and habitat management works.

Essentials:

· Full driving licence

· Good level of physical fitness

· Willingness to work outside in remote rural locations, in all weathers

Desirables:

· An understanding of upland moorland sites

· Knowledge of GIS

· NPTC/CPCS/LANTRA qualifications in land based machinery and/or activities

· Mechanical knowledge and interest in machinery maintenance

Permanent, full time contract of 45 hours per week. £23,000-£27,000 per annum, plus overtime depending on experience.
