Netherwitton Estate Estate Worker - Job Description Netherwitton is a traditional, privately owned, family-run rural estate, located 8 miles west of Morpeth in Northumberland. We are now looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and adaptable individual to join the estate as a handyman and woodsman. The role will encompass a range of responsibilities to assist with the general running of the estate. The Estate extends to over 5,000 acres of primarily let farmland and in hand woodlands with residential properties and is centred on Netherwitton Hall. The role is hands-on and will require independent work, problem solving and the ability to work well directly with the employer. Everyday tasks will include forestry work (clearing fallen trees, planting trees), maintenance of estate properties and general oversight of biomass heating systems, fencing repairs, ditching and drainage, response to emergency repairs and security of Netherwitton Hall. Practical skills are required in general building works (roof repairs, stonework, carpentry, plumbing and exterior decoration) as well as forestry, fencing and drainage work. The majority of work will be outdoor. There is an opportunity to develop skills and potential for training for the right candidate. The successful applicant will benefit from the following: Essential skills: - Chainsaw licence (LANTRA) - Full UK Driving licence including trailer (i.e. Cat B+E) - General property maintenance skills - Experience in the operation of farm machinery (e.g. tractors and associated equipment) Desirable: - Spraying qualification (PA1, PA6) - 1 st Aid trained - ATV certificate (LANTRA) - Digger operator qualified (no more than 8 ton) - Experience in a similar role - Experience of biomass systems Standard hours will be 08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 to 15:30 on Friday with a 30 minute lunch break. Overtime will be required in busier times or in the event of emergency repairs or other work. Competitive salary commensurate with experience together with accommodation potentially available.
