Balcarres Estate is a large estate with farming enterprises as well as a residential portfolio of rented properties that are managed in-house by the maintenance and property team. Balcarres is one of seven estates that form the East Neuk Estates that are the cornerstone of the area’s farming community.

The Role

The Maintenance Assistant will support the Property Manager in carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance across all aspects of the Estate; focusing mainly on the repair and maintenance of the Estate’s infrastructure.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Assisting the Property Manager with routine exterior inspection and maintenance of estate infrastructure, to include water supplies, farm steadings, dykes, fences and estate buildings.
  • Maintenance of lawns, grounds, verges and hedges as directed; including spraying, strimming and mowing.
  • Support the Property Manager as and when required with property refurbishment projects and residential property repairs.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of the private road network, including snow and ice clearance during winter months.
  • Routine tasks in and around Balcarres House including log replenishment, drainage, gutter clearance and monitoring oil tank levels.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required by the Estate team, Balcarres House and the Estate Office.

Requirements:

A valid UK Driving Licence and Trailer Licence will also be required.
