Live In - Estate Maintenance Worker and Estate Security Team member Location: West Chiltington, West Sussex (required to travel to other sites when required) Responsible to: Facilities Manager Responsible for: No direct reports Key Communicators: CEO, Estates Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, External suppliers and contractors Overall Purpose: The Live-In Estates Maintenance Worker will be required to work under the direction of the Facilities Manager. You will assist the Facilities team in the quality maintenance and development of all hard and soft landscaping belonging to the Nyetimber Estate, including minor building repairs and maintenance. You will form part of the Nyetimber Estate Security team, providing security for the Nyetimber West Chiltington site. Duties and Responsibilities: Facilities • Maintain and improve hard and soft facilities, as directed by the Facilities Manager. • Ensure a good standard of site presentation and assist in the maintenance and repair of paving, brick work, gates, and fencing, including small ground works. • Assist gardening team on an ad-hoc basis. • Carry out general repairs and maintenance of estate buildings. • Support vineyards team during busy periods. • Assist in keeping the Nyetimber Estate land clean and tidy and reporting any damage. • Be responsible for the proper use, maintenance and safe storage of all plant, machinery, tools and equipment, including: - Tractors - Land Rovers and Trailers - Forklifts - Excavator - Lawnmowers - Light plant, e.g., Chainsaws, Strimmer’s - Variety of powered and hand tools • Ensure all relevant Health and Safety standards are adhered to with regards to personal safety and safety of colleagues and visitors. • Undertake any prescribed training as required. • Undertake such other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the role and any other reasonable management request. Security • As part of the Estate Security Team, you will be required to be on call for 10 days a month, during which time you will provide continual on-site security cover for the Nyetimber West Chiltington site. These responsibilities include: - You will be the first point of contact for any Manor Estate alarm activations at any Manor Estate buildings. - Liaise with the security monitoring company to disable alarms where necessary. - Key holder for the Manor Estate properties. - Review and check CCTV footage is working via the mobile device. - Fill out a report for any breaches of Estate security. - Responsible for checking all gates are locked and secured on the Manor Estate. - One evening patrol through the Manor Estate. - General security awareness, at all times. • At all other times, you will provide an on-site security presence, including alertness to security issues and CCTV, unless your absence from site is agreed with the other members of the Estate Security Team. • Outside of working hours, only one member of the Estate Security Team should be off-site at any time. It is good practice to periodically review job descriptions. This could lead to amendments of job descriptions, which should only happen in consultation with the employee and their line manager. PERSON SPECIFICATION 1 Skills and Knowledge Ability to work in an outdoor environment in all weathers Essential Experience of operating a wide variety of equipment including tractors, mini excavator, brush cutters, trailers and forklifts. Desirable Practical ability to use and maintain small tools/machinery and general all-round DIY skills Essential Experienced in driving a Land Rover or similar vehicle. Essential Positive thinker, friendly with a “can do” attitude and a drive for change and continuous improvement. Essential Knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety procedures. Essential Good communication skills – verbal and written Essential Carpentry skills Desirable Honest, self-motivated with good work ethic and a sense of humour Essential Ability to work on own as well as part of small team Essential A general knowledge of plumbing, electric, carpentry, and painting is advantageous. Desirable 2 Experience Minimum 4 years’ experience of a property maintenance position. Essential Experience of operating and maintaining tools and equipment Essential Knowledge or experience of property security Desirable 3 Qualifications Possession of a clean driving licence that includes towing Essential Electric, plumbing, carpentry qualification. Desirable Forklift qualification and licence Desirable.
