A challenging but exciting opportunity has arisen in Hampshire for the role of Head Gamekeeper within a non-commercial shoot. Based on Salisbury Plain the Bulford Tidworth Shoot operates an extensive and low ground shoot. Some 20 - 22 driven days are hosted alongside 16 boundary days and an occasional simulated day.
The successful candidate should have significant experience in low ground shooting. The shoot brings in some 10,000 pheasant poults each year and by the nature of the ground has partridge, woodcock and wildfowl resident. In addition the successful candidate will be required to work extensively with the local tenant farmers in preparing the ground. There is provision for an under-keeper to be employed on a casual basis.
Ambitious and ready to re-build the shoots excellent reputation post covid, applicants will have had similar levels of responsibility. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and a well presented individual, confident within themselves to be ‘front of house’. They must be able to work with the Shoot Committee and also have the ability to work on their own and demonstrate a professional approach to all aspects of modern game keeping and shoot management.
Experience in rearing would be an advantage but not essential.
A full UK driving license and current shotgun/firearms certificates are required.
