Role Requirements & Responsibilities

An exciting position has become available within Cambs Farms Growers Ltd for someone with drive and ambition to develop their existing skills and to make a difference to not only the gamekeeping and shoot management but to also contribute to the overall Environmental and Conservation programme.

Key responsibilities include:​

  • Work in line with our group values; Trust, Efficiency, Quality & Expertise and Can-do.​

Gamekeeping and Shoot Management​

  • To assist head-keeper in day-to-day game keeping duties

To ensure that game keeping is within the requirements of the law.

Ensure all birds released are managed in line with relevant sections of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

  • To plant, prune and cultivate habitats to form the ideal environment for wild pheasants, grey partridge and support our farmland bird numbers.

Pest Control

  • Acting in accordance with relevant sections of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, ensure the control of pest and predators across the land base utilising effective methods of pest control.
  • Carry out and be available for night-time pest control and security dependant on season demands.

Estate and conservation

  • Candidate will be closely involved with existing environmental stewardship schemes, which include but not limited to; woodland and hedgerow management, planting and watering.
  • Improving wildlife habitats and diversity within.
  • Working closely with the conservation manager on a variety of duties and day-to-day maintenance and enhancement of the estate.
  • Work inline with our future farming model and wider conservation ambitions.

The ideal candidate (Experience/qualifications/training/requirements):​

  • Good understanding of Legislation and stewardship agreements with a drive for conservation
  • Firearms and Shotgun Certificate
  • Full UK driving licence
  • ATV licence (desirable – training will be given)
  • Chainsaw (desirable – training will be given)

Accommodation, vehicle and salary negotiable based on candidate’s experience.

Opportunity for candidate’s spouse to assist on shoot days.

Hours of Work: Flexibility is essential due to the nature of the business and the role.
