The successful candidate will be part of a well resourced team who, together with the extended team, embrace hard work and together achieve exceptional results.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person, preferably with experience of working in forestry, to join our woodland team. The role will be to assist in the management of the estates circa 450 ha of woodlands and parklands, working closely alongside our conservation and agricultural teams.

Responsibilities will include:

· Weeding/cleaning of plantations

· Coppicing

· Tree Felling

· Tractor, winch and timber trailer operation

· Ride swiping

· Tree planting & establishment

· Herbicide application

· Clearance of windblown trees and fallen branches

· Maintenance of equipment to a high standard

· Woodland & general Estate maintenance

· Carrying out risk assessments

Essential skills and Experience required

o Full UK driving licence

o NPTC chainsaw certificates (minimum – maintenance & cross cutting & felling and processing trees up to 380mm)

o Experience in forestry or related areas

o A positive approach to health & safety, with an understanding of the risk assessment process.

o Good problem-solving skills; and being able to work on your own or as part of a team.

o Experience of tractor and machinery operation.

Desirable skills

o Emergency First Aid at Work

o NVQ Level 2 in Forestry (or related subject)

o NPTC Chainsaw certificates:

o Felling and processing trees over 380mm

o Windblown trees

o Crown breakdown

o Use of chainsaw from MEWP

o Use of chainsaw from rope and harness

o Aerial rescue

o Pesticides certificates (PA1/PA6)

o Chipper certificate

o Brushcutter certificate

o Forest Machine Operations certification (base machine plus winch and trailed forwarder.)

o Driving licence to tow trailers

o Experience/ training in tree safety or surveys

o Traffic management training

o Excavator experience/ certification

o Tree planting experience
