Estate Manager & Housekeeper position
Loch Assynt Lodge Estate
Loch Assynt Lodge Estate, a picturesque Estate near Lochinver in Sutherland, combining stalking, fishing and west coast exploration, is looking for an Estate Manager/Stalker/Caretaker and a Housekeeper.
The position would suit a couple, with “one half” expected to perform the role of stalker, keeper, caretaker and handyman and the “other half” looking after the lodge. Whilst it is not critical, if the housekeeper were able to cook for guests, it would be beneficial. The couple will also be expected to look after the garden. Successful applicants will be able to fulfil a variety of roles and be able to undertake property maintenance and management, people management, stalking and hill management and deal with the varied challenges that living on a remote estate involves.
The Estate consists of Loch Assynt Lodge, a cottage and various outbuildings. The ground extends to 2,000 acres and has a variety of paths and tracks. There is fishing on Loch Assynt. There is an assortment of equipment including a quad bike and argo cat (necessary qualifications will be required) along with other equipment usually found on an estate of this nature. All assets will need to be maintained. The flora and fauna must be managed sustainably and 6-8 stags and 8-10 hinds are shot annually. The Estate is a member of the West Sutherland Deer Management Group.
Personal attributes required: reliable, resilient, highly competent, mechanical, enthusiastic, loves the hill, knows deer, happy in remote areas, sense of humour, good with guests and family alike, technologically competent and good with communication.
Applicants will require a driving licence, to gain, if they do not already hold, ATV qualifications and to fulfil the stalking role, Level 1 in Deer Management, a shotgun and firearms licence. Must have UK right-to-work.
Salary: Commensurate with experience. Rent-free accommodation included.
