JOB DESCRIPTION

JAHAMA Highland Estates is an innovative, multi-enterprise rural business covering 114,000 acres of the Scottish Highlands. We are part of the GFG Alliance, a global industrial conglomerate. We are currently recruiting for a permanent Ghillie to join our well-established sporting team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, reporting to our Head Stalker and being a proficient user of Argo’s and quadbikes. Flexibility, dedication and a modern approach to sporting management will be key attributes.

JOB PURPOSE

Based in Killiechonate and reporting to the Head Stalker, the Estate Ghillie will provide assistance

as directed in deer management, estate maintenance and environmental management.

JAHAMA Highland Estates operates in an iconic landscape popular with visitors from around the

world and for local recreation. We support responsible access, and positive visitor engagement is

an important task for all our staff. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a public-

facing environment and acting as an ambassador for the Estate.

The HSEQ responsibilities of the role are detailed in the Organisational Resources,

Accountabilities and Responsibilities Element (LOC-ELM-HSEQ-005)

Duties & Responsibilities Identify the essential tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the role

· Mechanical extraction of deer in challenging terrain.

· Assisting the Head Stalker with guest hospitality.

· Working alongside the sporting team in carrying out maintenance tasks.

· Participating in environmental work such as habitat monitoring and habitat enhancement.

· Ensure all required Safety Procedures (e.g., Take 5, Risk Assessment) are complied with.

· Proactively promote and participate in all HSE initiatives within the department such as

reporting of Safety Hazards and creating standardized work procedures.

· Safely operate the various pieces of equipment on the Estate.

· Ensure quality standards are maintained.

· Maintain housekeeping standards across the Estate and carry out all housekeeping duties

including deep cleaning of equipment and areas as required.

· In addition to the above duties, the Estate employee will be expected to show a level of

flexibility to perform other tasks associated to the safe and efficient operation of the Estate.

Person Specification & Experience identify the key competencies required for the role (e.g. communication skills) and any

experience the person requires.

Essential

· Previous experience of Highland deer management, ideally in an area with significant public

access.

· A good level of fitness and aptitude for working in extremely steep terrain in challenging weather conditions. · At least two years’ experience and competent in the use of Argocat’s and quadbikes · At least two years’ experience in the operation of boats, possessing an IPowerBoat Level 2 boat certification or equivalent (Killiechonate) · Valid UK driving license. · Flexible team player keen to seek positive solutions; adaptable, committed and enjoys a challenge. · Ability to act with discretion at all times and fulfil the role of an Estate ambassador. Desirable · Both sit-in and sit-astride ATV certification · Shotgun and firearms certification · DMQ certification · Current off-road driving qualification · Habitat monitoring experience, although training will be provided
