We are now accepting CV’s for a new Caretaker position on a private estate located in the central belt of Scotland.

Working alongside the estate manager and other full-time members of staff developing and improving standards of a private home and the wider estate. The candidate would split their time between a busy household and assisting ground staff with seasonal outdoor roles. The candidate would be expected to take responsibility of the driving duties associated with the principles stays and must be able to plan and communicate effectively. During the principles residence the candidate would be expected to join house staff throughout, acting as the right hand person to the EM.

The key roles are-

  • Site security, providing access to site visitors, expected to be first responder/ keyholder to alarm activations and be on hand when necessary.
  • Insuring maintenance on all household equipment is scheduled and completed.
  • Completing Health and Safety routines and servicing.
  • Introducing contractors to the site identifying the site rules and ensuring they comply with them on site.
  • Liaising with and instructing contractors completing works in the main property and wider estate properties
  • Working closely with the HK team completing routine, daily & weekly checklists of the property and servicing of equipment. Recording and actioning reported damages, faults and dangers. Keeping impeccable records, including fire alarm testing, machinery servicing and roof maintenance checks.
  • Insuring routine annual servicing of the property's drainage, roof line and equipment.
  • Keeping stock levels of cleaning and household supplies at capacity.
  • Driving duties for family & guests where necessary.
  • Collecting supplies, running errands, stocking property (water, logs, waste and recycling), setting and maintaining fires.
  • Working alongside fulltime and temp staff to ensure that the highest standards are met.
  • Competent in practical duties such as light diy, changing bulbs, hanging curtains pre decorating etc, furniture assembly. Fit to complete manual handling tasks such as furniture moving, contractor waste removal and roof checks using the access system in place.
  • Furniture polishing and metal cleaning.
  • Ensuring the highest standards are kept and attention to detail is always necessary.
  • Work alongside the existing grounds team assisting where necessary.

This role would suit someone who has a keen eye for detail, practical ability and enjoys the hustle of a busy household during terms of residency. Our small friendly team of staff are committed to improving the property and the principles experience.

40hrs per week 5 days a week

Overtime during residency, 6 days a week, meals provided during residency
