A great opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and motivated beat keeper to join the team.

Ben Alder Estate extends to 56,000 acres and the Allt An’t-Sluic beat makes up 5,000 acres of this with a mixture of hill ground and forestry.

Job Description

  • · The main role of this position is to carry out the day to day running of the low ground shoot alongside the head keeper carrying out all aspects of husbandry consistent with releasing Partridge/Pheasant/Duck.
  • · Responsibility for own beat maintaining the highest of standards.
  • · Assisting with the Deer Management Plan on the estate when required
  • · Helping to maintain good relationships with neighbouring estates and stakeholders
  • · Ensure that family and client shoot days run successfully and smoothy.
  • · Vermin control and creation and maintenance of rich biodiverse habitat
  • · Working closely with the estate management team to maintain a safe working environment for everyone on the estate and ensuring that all codes of conduct and best practice are adhered to.
  • The successful candidate will be experienced in the release of Partridge/Pheasant/Duck and will be responsible for the Allt an t-Sluic beat and all associated management aspects including feeding and watering, vermin control, dogging in, deer management and maintenance. Additional duties will include the general tidying up and maintenance of a sporting estate and the candidate must be willing to help wherever required on the estate, including fencing and road repair and maintenance.
  • They will also assist the head keeper in enhancing and improving the shoot and ensuring the highest of standards are met with a modern forward-thinking approach. Candidates must have clean driving licence, firearms and shotgun certificates, chainsaw, and ATV tickets, working dogs and at least 5 years relevant experience.
